Team Data
The NinosCorner Number (NCN) for the analysis of a team showcases how efficient a team is
by calculating the offensive and defensive productivity of a team. These numbers are categorized into two
sections…Offense (NCN-OFF) and
Defense (NCN-DEF). To calculate the NCN-OFF and NCN-DEF, Offense
and Defense Success Rates (OSR and DSR) will be analyzed to illustrate how
successful and effective a team is.
Success Rates are calculated by accomplishing successful
plays. Successful plays occur when a
play gains enough yardage to keep an offense progressing towards a 1st down
(50% of yardage on 1st down, 70% on 2nd down, or 100% on 3rd/4th down). In addition to the Success Rates, other
statistical metrics are incorporated into our proprietary formula to calculate the
final NCN-OFF and/or NCN-DEF. NCNs
are based on a 100 point composite score with higher NCNs equating to a better overall score for respective teams.
In addition, explosive play (XP) rates will be calculated to
showcase the lethality and instant-strike ability of an offense. XPs are defined as any play that gains
more than 15 yards for collegiate football…whereas, for the NFL, it is
comprised of plays that gain 10 yards or more for a rushing attempt and 25 or
more yards for a reception.
This statistical metric represents the offensive
skill player’s value based upon an average player at their respective position. A
higher number equates to a better overall score for a team/player.
In regards to the NCN-OFF score, teams the posted a higher composite score won their respective game 86% of the time. Teams with a higher NCN-DEF score over the course of a game won that respective game 89% of the time. When a team posts a higher NCN-OFF and NCN-DEF over their opponent, their win probability jumps to 92%.

Player Data
The NCN for a player measures a
player’s efficiency at their respective skill position. The NCN gives a numerical representation,
similar to a Quarterback Rating (QBR), for offensive skill positions. This
statistical metric represents the offensive skill player’s value based upon an
average player at their respective position. A higher number equates
to a better overall score for a team/player.
On the offensive side of the ball, the NCN measure’s
Wide Receiver, Tight End, and Running Back efficiencies based on a number of
data components, resulting in a composite score rated on a 100 point scale.
