Player Spotlight: Jaqwis Dancy
by Nicholas "NinosCorner" Battle
Louisiana Tech senior running back, Jaqwis Dancy, can become part of the sacred "40/40" club in college football this year, meaning he has the potential to rush and receive at least 40 times each this upcoming 2019 season. This feat was only accomplished by 5 NCAA running backs last year; however, if Dancy can do this, the Bulldogs will be sure to have a strong season.
Dancy recorded a 70.7 BSN rushing rate and a 41.1 BSN receiving rate, to register a 66.6 BSN total rate. Dancy's numbers are consistent with NFL players Joe Mixon of the Cincinnati Bengals and Kerryon Johnson of the Detroit Lions. He possesses good vision and strength out of the La Tech backfield.
Barring any setbacks, Dancy should be in store for a break-out senior season. His role should be increased from last year, in both the rushing and receiving aspects of the LA Tech offense. I expect Dancy to surpass the 1,000 yard rushing mark this year, and catch more than 30 passes.
After beating stage 3 Hodgkin's lymphoma earlier in his career, Dancy is one I'll definitely be pulling for.
